President Donald Trump's job approval rating in Minnesota has dropped to a new low of negative 28, according to a new poll conducted by KSTP and SurveyUSA. This decline marks a sharp drop from his negative 20 rating recorded after the primary elections. The share of voters who strongly disapprove of his performance has reached 54%, the highest figure recorded in 12 previous KSTP/SurveyUSA polls.

State leaders saw modest improvements in their standing during the same period. Outgoing Governor Tim Walz moved from a personal low of negative 14 to negative 10 in the latest data. His rating had been at that low point for the two prior surveys. Currently, 37% of respondents strongly disapprove of Walz's job performance.

Senator Amy Klobuchar, who is seeking to replace Walz in the U.S. Senate, also saw a rise in approval. Her rating moved up from her personal low of positive 6 to positive 8. Attorney General Keith Ellison, whose support had fallen after the primary, recovered to a rating of negative 2. This figure is roughly equivalent to his approval level before his recent dip.

Collective approval for the Minnesota Legislature remains at negative 16. Analysts note that there could be record turnover at the State Capitol following Election Day, but the group's overall rating has held steady at that level.

Cost of living and inflation continue to be the most important issues for voters heading into Election Day. These topics lead other concerns by a wide margin. Fraud and healthcare round out the top three general priorities for the electorate.

Specific priorities vary by office. For the next governor, voters cite improving healthcare access and lowering taxes as top issues. For the next U.S. senator, the leading concerns are improving healthcare access and protecting Social Security. For the next Attorney General, consumer protection and criminal prosecution are the top three priorities, along with the other mentioned factors.

SurveyUSA is an independent, non-partisan research company. The poll used a mixed-mode methodology, collecting data via landline and cell phone interviews. Responses were weighted to U.S. Census targets for gender, age, and race.
