Dr. Billy Holland, an ordained minister and Christian author, recently argued that waiting for divine answers is a common struggle for believers who are accustomed to instant gratification. Holland suggests that the delay in receiving an answer to prayer often triggers frustration and anxiety, which he compares to small foxes damaging grapevines in the Song of Solomon. He believes these negative emotions can hinder a person's relationship with God if they are not managed with focus and faith.

Holland notes that modern life has conditioned people to expect immediate results after a short prayer. When that result does not appear by the end of the day, many individuals move on to other tasks or lose confidence in their faith. The minister contends that this expectation does not align with how God operates, citing the example of Abraham and Sarah, who waited decades for the birth of Isaac. He also points to Hannah, who waited years to give birth to Samuel, and Daniel, whose intense intercession was answered only after 21 days.

According to Holland, silence from God is not the same as a refusal. He describes heaven as distinct from a vending machine where a request yields an instant result. The author encourages readers to view trials as opportunities to climb out of discouragement and reach a higher level of personal peace. He advises that believers should protect their minds and hearts from outside negative influences, using the spiritual armor described in the book of Ephesians as a model for guarding against despair.

Holland emphasizes that trusting God requires standing firm even when it feels like no one else understands the situation. He warns that anger, sadness, and self-pity can damage a person's life if they cause them to let go of hope. The minister cites Hebrews 11:6, stating that without faith it is impossible to please God. He urges readers to hold on a little longer and to remain constant in prayer, echoing the instruction in Romans 12:12 to rejoice in hope and be patient in tribulation.

The piece serves as a reminder for those currently in a season of waiting. Holland asserts that God is fully aware of a person's situation and is working according to a perfect will. He encourages readers to embrace the reality of God's truth and to guard their conscience from the attacks of depression. For Holland, the goal is not just to endure the wait, but to transform worry into confidence and to remain focused on the promises that are yet to be fulfilled.
