A representative for Philadelphia 76ers forward Jaylen Brown told ESPN on Monday that reports of a trade demand were false. The spokesperson characterized the claim that Brown demanded a move from the Boston Celtics as "10000% a lie." This clarification follows a report by NBC Sports Boston analyst Brian Scalabrine, who suggested Brown had handed the team a list of demands and wanted to be sent to Milwaukee.

Scalabrine stated that Brown had asked for a trade and was rooting for a move to the Bucks. However, Brown's representative countered that the player never specifically requested the Bucks. The representative explained that a potential deal involving Giannis Antetokounmpo had collapsed during the offseason. After Boston informed Brown he would be traded regardless, the only request made was to have input on his destination.

The trade that sent Brown to Philadelphia occurred this past offseason. Boston acquired Paul George, first-round picks in 2028 and 2031, and second-round selections in 2028 and 2030 in return for the forward. Brown and Jayson Tatum have spent nine seasons together in Boston, where they were drafted as No. 3 overall picks in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

Scalabrine revised his statement before the Celtics hosted the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. He acknowledged that Brown did not technically demand a trade but maintained that the player arrived with a list of demands. The analyst speculated that a $140 million contract extension might have been one item on that list, though he admitted he had not fully investigated the details.

The public exchange between Brown and Tatum intensified over the past week. Brown posted a blue hat emoji on Instagram, referencing slang for lying, in response to Tatum claiming he was caught off guard by the trade. Tatum later said there was no beef between them and expressed interest in a conversation. Brown responded that while there was no beef, there might be "a little lamb chops and some gravy." He also noted that Tatum has a "hell of a PR team." The representative stated that Brown's only other request during his time in Boston was that he and Tatum be treated equally.

The two players led the Celtics to five Eastern Conference finals, two NBA Finals, and a 2024 championship over the Dallas Mavericks. Both athletes are now focused on their respective teams as they navigate the current season.
