Pass Christian Elementary School opened its second grade classroom to families and staff for a series of interactive science demonstrations on Friday. The event featured Halloween-themed experiments designed by the school's explore gifted class, allowing young students to test their laboratory skills in front of a live audience.

The program, which included participants from pre-K through second grade, combined scientific inquiry with creative performance. Students presented their findings while practicing public speaking and teamwork, marking the first public speaking and performing arts presentation for this specific gifted group.

Jane Bunn, the gifted education teacher, stated that the event allowed students to integrate research, communication, and collaboration. “I was so proud to see them be able to perform in front of their peers,” Bunn said. She noted that the students demonstrated the skills cultivated throughout the second grade curriculum, including the ability to present complex ideas to classmates and parents.

The demonstrations served as a practical application of the gifted program's focus on communication and teamwork. By turning the classroom into a performance space, the students showcased their learning objectives through direct engagement with the school community.

The event concluded with a full display of the students' scientific knowledge, fulfilling the program's goal of combining education with entertainment. The presentations provided a structured environment for the students to evaluate their progress in public performance and scientific method application.
