Three New Hampshire hospitals received high performance ratings for cardiac surgery from U.S. News and World Report. The rankings cover the 2026 assessment period. Heart disease remains a leading cause of death in the state and the country.

Conex Health Care's CMC hospital in Manchester earned the top spot. The facility is rated as a high performer in nine adult heart procedures. These include aortic valve surgery, arrhythmia treatment, heart failure care, and heart bypass surgery. The report notes that 88% of CMC patients would recommend the hospital to others.

Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center also secured a high performance rating. The hospital is recognized for procedures including aortic valve surgery. Patient satisfaction is slightly higher here, with 89% of individuals willing to recommend the facility. The center serves the broader New Hampshire region.

Portsmouth Hospital round out the list of three recognized facilities. This Seacoast area hospital is rated as a high performer for heart bypass surgery. It also holds a high performance rating for hip replacements. According to the data, 85% of Portsmouth Hospital patients would recommend it to friends or family.

The report uses patient feedback and procedural outcomes to determine these standings. The three hospitals represent the only facilities in the state to achieve this specific tier of recognition for heart bypass surgery this year. The data provides a snapshot of current care quality in the region.
