Addy's Closes Downtown Omaha Spot as Streetcar Costs Mount
Owner Tim Addison sells the 10th and Capitol location to neighbor The Fat Putter, citing construction barriers.

Addy's Sports Bar and Grill will close its Downtown Omaha location this Saturday. Owner Tim Addison is selling the 10th and Capitol site to The Fat Putter, the business operating next door. Addison identified Omaha Streetcar construction as the primary factor in the decision to exit the downtown market.
Access issues have plagued the restaurant during the build-out. Addison stated that customers struggled to reach the front door or cross the street to enter the establishment. He noted that while a grant for construction-impacted businesses was secured, the financial support was insufficient to sustain operations at that specific site.
"This kind of feels like I failed," Addison told 3 News Now's Jeremy Fredricks. "And, you know, it makes you feel like you failed your family, and you just kind of got to remember that we had some amazing times down here, and now we have a new chapter to explore." He added that the closure allows him to refocus on the two remaining locations in Northwest Omaha and Elkhorn, which are currently performing well.
Addison intends to assist the new owners in stabilizing the business. He plans to help them turn the location around and achieve success in the interim. The other two Addy's restaurants will remain open as the owner directs his attention to their operations.
The owner indicated he hopes to return to the Downtown Omaha area once the construction work is complete. For now, the 10th and Capitol location transitions to new management while the broader streetcar project continues.
