Melbourne Orlando airport reopens after 23 inches of rain
Flights resumed Tuesday, but restrooms and restaurants remain closed as crews repair water main breaks.

Melbourne Orlando International Airport resumed flight operations on Tuesday following a pause caused by severe flooding in Brevard County.
The disruption stems from heavy rainfall that dropped between 21 and 23 inches on Melbourne over the weekend. The downpour triggered flash flooding that closed several local roads and forced the airport to halt operations on Monday.
While planes are moving again, the terminal remains partially functional. Airport officials stated that city crews are actively locating and repairing multiple water main breaks. These repairs are affecting all residential and commercial customers on Melbourne's water system, including the airport infrastructure.
Consequently, all terminal restrooms are closed due to low water pressure. Passengers are advised to use facilities before arriving. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the terminal as an interim measure.
Food service is also limited. All restaurants and food concessions are closed because they cannot prepare meals. A limited selection of prepackaged snacks and bottled drinks is the only option currently available for purchase.
It is not yet clear when full services will return. Officials continue to monitor the water system repairs while managing the reduced terminal amenities.
