Ukrainian authorities began evacuating residents from the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky in Kherson Oblast on Friday. A delegation arrived in the area to oversee the operation and distribute humanitarian supplies.
Davyd Arakhamiia, head of the Servant of the People presidential faction, confirmed the team had arrived safely. He stated that the evacuation and aid distribution had started and that the local ceasefire held. The delegation reported no immediate interruptions to the process.
The truce in Oleshky began at 03:00 on 27 October. The White House announced that US First Lady Melania Trump secured the agreement between Russian and Ukrainian officials. The ceasefire is scheduled to end at 22:59 on 1 November. The Russian Defence Ministry also confirmed the start of the truce.
Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner, traveled to Oleshky to monitor conditions on the ground. He posted video evidence of his presence and spoke directly with local residents. Lubinets noted that the ceasefire had been in effect for 80 hours and remained stable during his visit.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi stated that 527 people will return to Ukrainian-controlled territory from Oleshky. The evacuation route runs through Russia and Belarus before reaching Ukraine. The Ukrainian human rights commissioner's office explained that this specific path was necessary for the operation.
The delegation continued its work on Friday while the ceasefire held. Residents waited for transport as aid workers coordinated the movement of people and supplies. The next phase of the evacuation is set to conclude by the end of the current truce period.
