The West Virginia Department of Human Services will begin mailing Low Income Energy Assistance Program applications on Monday, October 31, 2026.
The Bureau for Family Assistance selected specific households for the mailing list. The group includes families that received regular LIEAP benefits in the previous season. It also includes households with a child under age 6, adults aged 60 and older, or individuals with disabilities.
The department stated that funding is limited and awards are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Officials encouraged households to apply as early as possible.
Applicants have until November 25, 2026, to submit their forms. Submissions may be sent by mail, dropped off at a local Department of Human Services office, or completed online at www.wvpath.org.
Applicants using a Public Service Commission regulated utility for primary heating must provide a current utility bill. Households using bulk fuels must submit a fuel supplier verification and a receipt. The maximum benefit is $2,000 per household.
The department published maximum allowable gross income limits for Federal Fiscal Year 2027. Residents can contact their local office for help or call the Office of Constituent Services at 1-800-642-8589.
